PVC-faced plastic board
A waterproof core under an embossed PVC film
The core is a plastic composite of resin powder, calcium carbonate and stabilisers. The stabiliser is a calcium–zinc alloy rather than lead.
The core does not absorb water, is not attacked by insects, and does not distort with heat or damp. The PVC film over it is embossed along the grain, which helps it resist scratching, and is coated against fading so the colour keeps its depth.
